Rivo

Like it or not, the name Riverstone is sometimes abbreviated to “Rivo”.

I recently came across what is the earliest reference I have seen to “Rivo”. It appears in an autograph book belonging to Jessie Davis and the entry was made on 7 March 1916.

The signature is J.A.F. Another entry in the autograph book on the same day is signed J.A. Fyall. (In that entry the person has signed as being from Riverstone.)

The earliest use of the name in a newspaper that I could find on Trove, was from a Windsor and Richmond Gazette of 20 June 1924 and reads as follows:-

As for the origins of the name “Rivo”, we don’t know, but we are interested in suggestions.
